May they all be one

One tree, many branches…

Father, may they all be one in us, as you are in me and I am in you, so that the world may believe it was you who sent me. Jn 17

Jesus prays that his followers will all be one in love. By our unity the world will come to believe. We urgently need unity and love in the Church and the word today. One way to start is to seek unity in our own lives, maybe by listening to someone we don’t really agree with, or who we just find boring. Or perhaps we can include someone we don’t usually bother with. Though these things seem small compared to the needs of the world, they are of great value: because these small actions bring the love of God into our lives, so that we are one with Jesus and the Father, in the Holy Spirit, and one with each other.

May we all be one.
