‘Peter and a group of disciples went fishing, they caught nothing. It was light by now and there stood Jesus on the shore.’ Jn 21:6
During the week after Easter we focus on the Gospel readings about the risen Jesus appearing to his friends and disciples. It is amazing to think for a short time after his resurrection Jesus continued to walk bodily on the earth and to show himself. He ate, he talked, he was touched.
Interestingly Jesus seemed to appear unexpectedly when people were getting on with life: going on a journey with a friend, or going fishing. At first they do not recognise Jesus, but then the disciple Jesus loves says ‘it is the Lord’.
