Julian of Norwich

‘I conceived a great desire to receive three wounds in my life; that is to say, the wound of true contrition, the wound of kind compassion, and the wound of earnest longing for God’ from Mother Julian of Norwich, Revelations of Divine Love.

Julian oof Norwich was a medieval recluse who had an experience of God showing his love for humanity in the year 1378, when she was gravelly ill. She pondered on the revelation for a long time before writing her ‘Revelation of Divine Love’.

I was struck by the sincerity of her desire for contrition, compassion and longing for God.
