“The blind man cried out, ‘Jesus Son of David have pity on me!’ Luke 18
As I read this Gospel passage about the healing of a blind man, I wondered what exactly it had to say to me. Is there more than the fact that Jesus could work miracles?
As I prayed I became frustrated at how distant God seemed, and how impossible it is to even begin to grasp or understand God.
Yes, before God I am like a blind person, I know that God is, but I can’t begin to see God or really know God; it just isn’t possible.
Like the blind beggar, Jesus comes to my aid, and heals my blindness. I cannot know God in God’s divinity, but in his humanity, Jesus shows me the love and mercy of God.
Lord, let me see!
