I don’t think anyone has written a more inspiring account of love than St Paul. Simple enough for a child to understand, yet deep enough to stretch a saint. I will simply copy out the passage for you to read yourself.

Love is always patient and kind: it is never jealous; love is never boastful or conceited, it is never rude of selfish; it does not take offence, and is not resentful. Love takes no pleasure in other people’s sins but delights in the truth; it is always ready to excuse, to trust, to hope, and to endure whatever comes. Love does not come to an end. (1 Corinthians 13:4-7)

  1. As a “lover of God” I often wonder what I mean if I say “I love God”. In fact I seldom say it, for that very reason!
    What does anyone else mean?
