Out of his mind?

‘Jesus’ relatives set out to take charge of him, convinced he was out of his mind’ Mark 3:20-21

This sentence from the Gospel of Mark has always seemed strange to me. But today I got a little insight. When and if I am ever SO full of God, so absorbed in God and God’s love, that my relatives think that I am out of my mind: well, maybe then I will be starting to make some progress!

In our secular world maybe it is no bad thing to be a little different or even a little strange. ‘My thoughts are not like your thoughts, says the Lord. For as the heavens are high above the earth, so are my thoughts above your thoughts.’ (Isaiah 55}
